Received call from this number. Foreign speaking man stated that he was from "Windows Computer Center," and that my computer was sending them error messages. Told him that I was with a different company and that I would be calling the company that I am with. Before I could say anything further, this jerk hung up. FRAUD....Blocked this number......
Caller purported to be from the Windows Support Center. Was clearly looking to scam innocent victims who are not technically literate. As a computer expert I followed the steps to identify the methods they use. They will lead you to show you things on your own machine that they claim to be problems (e.g. lots of errors in Events Viewer) - these are benign and nothing to worry about. Then they will pretend to "confirm" their identity by reading out an ID to you and demonstrating that it's the same as one on your screen - it is, but it's the same on every Windows Machine. .ZFSendToTarget=CLSID\{888DCA60-FC0A-11CF-8F0F-00C04FD7D062}. Don't fall for it; just hang up.
Just received a call from a woman with the windows technical support. Received a call at 11:00 pm last night from a man for the same thing. Last nights call used spoofing with a number from an actual business in North Dakota. He tried to tell me that that was their actual business name. Every call comes from a different number. Callers have a heavy accent. One woman told me her name....it was my name and swore that was her name.
Got a call a few minutes ago from these clowns. Its an obvious scam about windows support. Once he was done with his story I asked him " why does your caller ID show up as Ally Bank ? ", he hung up.
A caller with a broken Indian accent identified himself as Chris. He told me he was from Windows Support and had received error messages and wanted to help. I said I was surprised and said I had a question. "When you go home in the evening, having cheated people out of money, do you feel good or bad about yourself?" He surprised me by not hanging up but trying to defend himself.
