CID just gave the number and said: Brainerd, MN. I had my answering machine turned off. They let it ring 10 times. When you have a choice about an incoming call: (1) Don't answer it if you don't recognize the name or number and (2) never call the number back or press a number to "get your number removed from their calling list". My recommendation is always go to 800notes to see who or what was calling you and post any information you have. There is strength in knowledge. It is not just the elderly who are being harassed. They are called more often because many of us are too polite to hang up or ignore these creeps. When someone is coming into your home (even by phone) you don't have to be polite.
Robocall offering medical alert services. They refer to recommendations of the "American Institute of Aging" in a manner that makes you think that's whence the call; in fact, Google doesn't find an "American Institute of Aging," and the "NATIONAL Institute of Aging" is a governmental agency (part of the NIH in Bethesda). Slimy at best; seems pretty likely to be an outright scam.
