It IS a cold call -- for me and most everybody on this page. That makes it a NON-LEGITIMATE call, a telemarketer and not somebody we already (or wish to) do business with.
CT, This is not a legitimate renewal of a magazine coming from the original subscription. These loser companies are buying the information for businesses and they call to "update" the business specs. They "give" you a free year of their pretend magazine while they sell the businesses information to other low life telemarketers. These things are tie up the phone lines so that our customers cannot get through and everyone is fed up with it. I think it will take a class action suit against the phone companies for us to put a stop to the crooks harassing us.
NEVER push a button or call a number or anything else. Any interaction confirms you are a "live" number and they'll never leave you alone. They'll most likely sell your information to the thousands of other jerks just like themselves. See this:
“If you receive a robocall about lowering your credit card rates, hang up immediately. Taking any action by pressing a key on your phone will likely lead to increased robocalls, regardless of what the automated message tells you. Also, remember that these calls are part of a scam. The “service” being advertised in the call cannot save you money. In most cases, the real goal of the call is to collect your number to sell to other scammers or to charge your credit card with phony fees.”
