This is a scam. They will ask you to run a program on your computer which will give them full access to it in order to "fix" an "identity theft problem". The guy in India who called me was reading from a script and wanted me to Run winipcfg. This tells you your IP address which they then get from you and use it to hack your computer with a malicious virus, which they then charge you to remove ("ransomware"). I played along with this guy for a while, then told him that everyone in the U.S. knows this is a malicious scam and that I had played along long enough to verify that. He hung up on me after informing me that he knew I was playing him - presumably the whole time he talked with me. The only "new" aspect of this scam was the identity theft angle; the rest was right out of Scumball 101.

Received a call from this number claiming they were from a computer help service. The caller would not give the company name. His English was poor. When asked what state he was calling from he restates the computer help desk. I never signed up for a computer help service.
Caller ID said "Indiana." They must have added two letters to their actual location. Barely understandable "computer help desk." He said my computer was hacked and sending out error messages. Asked him if he is looking at my computer right now. He said yes. I said it's starting to act real funny. Then I played the Narwhals song for him. He hung up, then called back. I played the Narwhals song for him again. For some reason he hung up again!
