Called saying they were local police department. Very believable bc they had all my info. Said if I didn't pay $783 they would put a warrant out for my arrest. They even called my job.

Legitimate process servers do not call to warn you, or to get money from you to stop the process. They will deliver the notification without warning.
(Here is more info than you really need on process serving:

Also, if you were threatened with an "arrest warrant" via a phone call or email, read this:
http://news.uscourts.gov/warning-arrest-warrant-scam
"The warrant is phony. A valid warrant would not be served by fax or e-mail. It would be served in person by a U.S. Marshal or other law enforcement officer."
"Anyone receiving a fake arrest warrant should contact the FBI or the district U.S. Marshals Office. If there is any question regarding the authenticity of a warrant, contact your district clerk of court."
These people called my husbandsaying that he had a big loan in Louisiana done online and that he needed to pay them because he was going to be arrested i my husband told him this is not the sheriff's department this is a scam or a call center and I will not be doing anything for you at all and I never did get a loan ever through anyone so the man told him after my husband got an attitude that he would be arrested within 48 hours so then I called him back and he answered Louisiana County Sheriff's Department and I told him that somebody from that place called us and threaten my husband with a loan that we never had and he corrected me and told me to prove it and told me don't be calling or or they will press charges on me for phone harassment.
it is a TOTAL SCAM! i contacted the Baton Rouge Sheriff's Department and reported this number. They are aware that this is a scam. Emailing the Office of the Attorney General next.
