I called the number back and received an automated message from a "reward center" informing me that I was eligible for a $100 reward voucher for visiting an affiliated website. I played along and pressed 1 to connect to the call center. An "agent" picked up, thanked me for pressing 1 and asked me for my first name which I gladly provided.
He then asked for my last name and I advised we'd get to that later after he explains what this is all about. The agent stumbled a bit and then notified me that I was eligible for a $200 voucher that can be used at major stores to purchase anything from clothing to groceries. I noticed how the amount of the voucher magically had increased by $100. The agent also sounded like he had absolutely no customer service experience and is in dire need of some sort of coaching/training.
He then stated he would mail the voucher if I would pay the $8.90 shipping cost. That is when I basically told him what he could do with his voucher which seemed to startle the poor guy, but I do enjoy playing along with these people just to waste their time.
I then called back again and pressed 2 to be removed from their calling list.
