I answered. Automated robo dialer informing me that my vehicle warranty has expired and they have sent the final courtesy reminder. This was my last chance to reinstate my vehicle warranty. When asked if I wanted more info, I answered 'no' a few days ago, but today answered 'yes' and they still hung up on me.
Had my ringer off, saw this as a missed call. In the past five or six months, I have received hundreds of solicitation calls out of the blue, even though I am registered on the so-called "No Call List". What a joke.
The do not call list can not stop people from calling. People do it all the time. When they call the landline I tell them I'm on the Do Not call list and hang up. People in other countries are not going to abid by the laws as they don't when they illegally reproduce our products without our premission. If it was not for the do not call list, you would be getting a lot more calls.
The reality of the DNC list is that it stops only those law-abiding businesses from spamming you with solicitation calls. Robocallers (which in and of itself is illegal), unscrupulous US-based businesses, and pretty much any non-US based solicitor will not register with or abide by the DNC list.
So Mustanglady is correct in saying that you would get significantly MORE calls if you are not registered on the DNC list.
