name
called trying to convince me that I have something wrong with my windows pc, my files security has been compromised and blablabla - obviously reading a script. I used a thicker accent than his and played along for a while until he got annoyed, called me a BIG son of a b**** ( even funnier when said with an accent + I bet this was not in his script) and then he hanged up. it was fun while it lasted though.

To the person who placed that call: dude, don't take it so personally, you job is [***] and your script needs refining. don't say you're calling ALL Microsoft users - that kinda gave it away. please call anytime, I had you on speaker phone and the whole family had a good laugh!

I also received a call from this number, a man with a thick accent claiming to be "Donald Volker" in Las Vegas.  He said he was calling to "dispose of Windows machines" that had been found to be compromised by "security threats" and other problems related to the internet. He had the wrong name for this number, but when I told him he had a wrong number he insisted he could not have had a wrong number because this was the number he had called. It was so incompetent it was laughable. Which I suppose is a good thing, when the incompetent one is trying to run a scam.

I wonder if this is somehow an international number with a US area code, given the fact that the prefix starts with a 0?  I didn't answer and don't plan to.

My 8 month old computer crashed this weekend and my wonderful husband worked through the night getting it back up and running. Interestingly this morning, I get a call from a "HelpTech 24/7 Computer" saying we need to take care of our computer now it is urgent and starts verifying my information! I asked him how he got my information and he says it isn't just me, they are calling everyone that uses Windows.

He was very pushy and insisted I talk to him now. He spoke broken English but his accent wasn't too heavy. He sounded to be from the Middle East but well acclimated in the states? Kind of like the guy in "Short Circuit" (Johnny number 5).

When I said "No I can't talk to you, I am busy", he said "you don't have 10 minutes for me to help you? You are sitting in front of your computer now, aren't you?" I said, "NO and NO! I don't have time for this, I am busy with the children", then he said" I will call you back in 10 minutes?" I said "NO, I have children ALL day. I will call you back when I have time." He got frustrated and made sure to tell me to ask for HIM by name and nobody else. Psht! I am not calling him back. I do have a number and name though, maybe I should turn him in to someone.? I stayed on the line to get information from him, just in case. Although, I really wanted to hang up on him. But he does know my name, address, and phone number.

I asked him what company he was with, like HP or Emachines or something and he just kept saying (insert accent) "I am Patrick Sanders from HelpTech 24/7 Computer". His number is 1-800-935-0714 employee # 1375 but he called from 1-229-012-2089.

He didn't mention my husband and when I told him it already crashed he said "SEE this is what I am trying to say to you! ITS YOUR FAULT! You are responsible if it happens", I said yes. I have already paid for it. JERK!
