I talked to the person/recording calling from this number. It's "Breast Cancer Financial Assistance" and it seems they're soliciting donations. When I talked back to the recording, it managed to give me somewhat appropriate responses, so I think a person must be on the other end selecting which response to play back. Since I have breast cancer, I asked how I could apply for assistance. They must have been stumped for an appropriate response because it went silent. I hung up then filed a complaint at donotcall.gov. (You don't have to be on the Do Not Call list to file a complaint about a recording.)
First time I've received a call from this number. Caller ID just says "Albany, GA", which is true -- area code 229 is Albany, Georgia. Let the call go to my answering machine where a message was left "Hello? Hello? Hello? Hello?" and then disconnected. Calling the number back connects me to Customer service at Breast Cancer Financial Fund ...... May or may not be a scammer. I use Charity Navigator ( http://www.charitynavigator.org/ ) to verify the worthiness of charities who contact me for money, and don't find any listings with them for Breast Cancer Financial anything. Any more calls from this number and they go to my call block list.
