We received a similar call this morning at 7 AM (New York time) from someone claiming to be with the IRS. Same number - 425-209-1033. Not only did they get the name of my wife wrong, but they stated it was related to her tax return, which makes no sense since we file a joint return. Also, standard protocol for the IRS is to first issue a notice of the year they are planning to audit. They do not call in advance. Lastly, no one picked up on the other end, when I returned the call to inquire more about their inquiry. This is definitely something fishy about this call, so I am just blocking that number.
Foreign accent. Poor English. Incoming caller id of 0000. Caller left a voice mail saying that "this is Chris Rogers from the IRS and call back immediately on 425-209-1033." Fake. This is a WA state area code and is not listed as an IRS contact number. We don't live in WA.
Got same phone call. Female caller, heavy foreign accent. Got call 8:30am East Coast time so that would have been 5:30am West Coast time, as the caller ID showed call 425-209-1033 allegedly came from WA. Wonder if these calls have anything to do with the Target incident? They had my name but the phone # they called me on is listed with another name.
