Company called 3 times today. First time, message was in Spanish. I got to the automated system, and the message said our number was removed from their system. They called back about 2 hours later, and I did the same thing. About an hour after that, they called back from a blocked number with the message in ENGLISH! This time, I pressed 1 for a "specialist". When I asked for the rep's name and the name/address of the company, they transfered me to the automated system. I called back 7 times, never got a supervisor. I tracked down the name and address of the company using the internet and their phone number... If you want it, e-mail me at
[email protected]. After a while, we kept calling THEM back and asking how much debt THEY were in, or asking how they were doing, or how was the weather... If they can call us 3-5 times a day and harrass us, even AFTER we have asked them to remove our number from their database (which, legally, they should have done the first time and never called back again for 10 years), then we should be able to do the same thing. Funny thing is, we continued to only get the same 3 reps, Annie, Anthony, and Jiel (we managed to get names on a few of the calls). This company apparantly does outbound telemarketing for SEVERAL companies, so I am not even sure if they are really connected with the company they are soliciting for... In any case, I will be sending a letter to the Attorney General of CT and of WA (the Debt Consolidation Company the telemarketer works for is located in Tacoma, WA), and to the company via certified mail, return receipt requested to CEASE and DESIST from calling our number. Once I have a delivery confirmation, if they call again, I will just take them to court - there are laws that make this kind of calling illegal, and the company can be fined. The company also has to pay punitive damages if they continue to call after you ask them to take your number off of their calling list. Find out more from FTC's website. (Although, I am not in any kind of business, and I am not in any way, shape, or form affiliated with the FTC or the Attorney General's office - I am just REALLY REALLY angry about these stupid calls!)
