I got the same call, however I am a technician. Here is how they do this.. and how to catch them. ie get them busted for not enforcing the do not call list. They have a large circuit for their phone lines which with the right phone equipment can put out any caller ID you want.. believe me I know.. I own a company that installs such equipment. But dont worry I only do it for reputable businesses that want the main number ID'd for all calls to be recognized buy the main number. You will not be able to report them untill you get them to say who they are and give you their information. So do just the same that they do to you, tell them what they want to hear(not giving any personal info out) and get their companies name and the agents name and ask them if you can call them back because you are interesed and your cordless phone is going dead or something. When you get the info then file the online complaint or call and report the caller ID hidden practices. They"ll get it twice for masking their identitiy and for ignoring the "Do Not Call" list. But be spacific on how the Caller ID does not properly identify them. Its a small step for mankind..(cause these preditor are not human) But a coupole of $25,000 fines and they'll feel your wrath!!!
