I found a house for rent on craigslist 3 BR 1 BA for 600 a month with an owner that claimed to be in west africa. He sent me an application and I foolishly didn't think twice about filling it out with my name, address,and phone numbers. After the second email I quickly realized it was a scam when I he was asking me to fedex him money before id even seen the house. I reported him to craigslist, but he has called me 7 times tonight and I didn't answer but my mind is going to dark places like what if he's a serial killer or a stalker and im scared to death... I know this is highly unlikely,but I've never dealt with a scam before so if anyone has advice or some encouraging words to make me feel like this is not an axe murderer then please let me know.
Good to know! I just got the same email but did not fill out the application! I checked Hennepin County property tax records and they even have the right name for the person who purchased the property; the horrible spelling was the first warning sign; Africa was the second and it went down hill from there! Be safe!
