This is an international number from Nigerian scam artists. They use it to call and try to set up bogus purchase transactions if you are selling an item online. They send you a counterfeit check from a valid business account that is NOT issuing checks, trying to pull you in. They ignore your request for cash, PayPal, Money Order, or Cashier's check. They ask you to deposit it into your account and deduct the amount of your item and Western Union, then instruct you to wire the balance to an individual out west. (Texas, Arizona, California, etc.) Of course the check is returned to your account and now you are liable for the whole amount. The bank of the "valid account with money in it" WILL NOT tell you that the account does not issue checks, so their limited comments fool you into trusting the check. DON'T FALL FOR IT! I avoided the mistake by being relentless about insisting on MY terms of payment. I called the company on the check that was different than the name of the buyer and wire receivers. They stated houndreds of individuals are fooled trying to cash bogus checks on their account. Make sure to block all future calls and emails from them and pass on your information to everyone you can.
