I had almost the same thing happen to me. But he notified me by phone and I hung up cause I thought they were asking for donations. He texted back with the exact same text word for word but he used the name Detective Byron Butler. I have strung him along for 2 weeks telling him I'd pay when I got paid. Tomorrow is the date I committed to. He texted me today to remind me of my payment being due. I made fun of him for letting me play him and he never responded.
Total clap trap. If the police had evidence that you committed a crime in Florida, the local police would ask the local district attorney to extradite you from wherever you are to Florida. You would be given a hearing in the state you are now . living in. In any event you cannot go to jail unless you are given due process.
For crissakes, this is a scam. S. C. A. M. Scam!
Call the police and make a complaint of extortion.
Sounds like a total scam to me. The US Attorney only deals with federal offenses. These sorts of crimes in your post are normally only dealt with by local state prosecutors. The message is poorly written. Looks to me like an Indian law enforcement scam.

Give them a call and tell them what happened. Absolutely DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY TO THESE PEOPLE!
I didn't send them anything. But you can't blame me for flipping out when this happened at work out if the blue. Especially since I know only one person in Florida, nowhere near cape coral, who is drinking age.
