I received a call today from 239-234-4378. The caller had an Indian accent and indicated that he was calling me because a computer service I had signed up for was no longer providing service and would be providing me a refund. They wanted me to give them access to my computer so that they could provide the refund. I had read of other scams where the caller gets access to your computer and then messes with it so that they can hold it ransom until you pay them money, so I just told him to send me the refund, but he made some excuse about not being able to do that. I also did a reverse look up on the phone number and found that the call was supposedly coming from Florida. However, I also found that the carrier for the call is Ymax Oration (which is the same as Magic Jack), which means that it is a voice-over-internet call, and using Magic Jack, anyone in India (or, I believe, any where else in the world) who has access to the internet can call you essentially for free, but it will appear to come from whatever location corresponds with the assigned area code for that number. BEWARE - THIS IS A SCAM.
