Thank you Kat. You are so right. I just went through this but the second I got hit up for money I knew what it was! And thank you DR PHIL!!! It's so very sad. This breaks my heart for me and especially for those who actually paid.
I met a man on a dating website and got multiple calls from this number. It was a male, "Denzel Moore", with a heavy European or middle eastern accent saying he was a wealthy and independent entrepeneur and business man calling from Virginia who was interested in a relationship, but when I searched the number, it was from a landline in North Fort Myers, Florida. To make a long story short, the later calls, he said, were coming from "Istanbul, Turkey" and he was short on cash needing a $10,000 advance so he could open an account for payment of a job he had completed and needed to get paid for. He said he wasn't familiar with the banking laws in Turkey prior to "fulfilling the job contract". He said the Turkish"Citi Bank" would not let him open an account or make a deposit without first depositing $15,000 American dollars and he was $10,000 short...and could I help him out? CREEPER! some of his calls came from 408-620-7384, which is a land line in San Jose, CA. Total scam artist...but I was too smart for him! Beware of calls coming from either phone number!!
OMG! Thank you all for posting. I 'met' this guy on 'Tagged.com'. Same MO as y'all are reporting. He just gave me this number today but when I tried it my calls would get rejected immediately. I decided to look up the number and lo and behold!
Called and said I won 3.5 million dollars and a 2012 Mercedes Benz. I was the third place winner in a Mega Million contest and the caller William Pittsburgh was from a company in Las Vegas....Sure!!
Wife and I both got a call from this number. They called her phone and asked for me. When she asked who was calling several times, they hung up.
I called the number from my phone and it just went to a message saying "the Magic Jack customer you have dialed is not available"... A few seconds later my phone rings and some woman, in what sounded like a Spanish accent, asked for my wife. I asked her who was calling couple times and she hung up. My wife said her caller was a woman with a Spanish accent as well.
I've called the number back and left a message to remove our phone numbers and quit calling. I'm not sure if it'll help but its worth a shot.
