They called me and I called them back and said I don't know who this is and I don't know how you got my number now stop! They Haven't called back since.
Started calling me the day after I submitted a request for a diabetic cookbook. I should have known better. I just called the # back and a woman answered saying "Hi Ellie, how are you?" I could hear that it was a call center. Told her to take my # off their list. If it happens again, I WILL contact the state Attorney General's office.
This number has called me 3 times already and the day is not over yet. I've done some research on the number and it seems like they want to sell a magazine. I have heard different reasons why they started calling, but I have not done any of them. I have not ordered a magazine from them, I have not entered any drawings, and I have not filled out a form to win money. If they call again, they will get an earful.
As someone who works in a call center (Political/market research, not telemarketing) we have a long packet that we change out between other individuals in the call center. about a 3-4 lines of information about the people we call is listed on that sheet per name: Phone numbers, First and Last name, political party, registration year, age, race, gender, candidates and issues you voted for (though the last section is disclosed in code I can't understand, but the computer and my supervisors do.)
It's scary, I don't even know how the information is acquired (Voter registration possibly?) but whoever gathers the information for the call center knows a lot more about you than you'd think.
They called me telling me I won a $250 gift card. They talked for like 4 minutes straight and I tried to interrupt to tell him to put me on the do not call list and he just ignored me until the end of his speech. That should be illegal.
