Yep. Your banks, be it your checking account, home equity line, mortgage holder - any bank including all of your credit card co's, store card co's have the right to share "certain" info. about you which you have already provided. Just about anyone to whom you have ever willingly provided your number (including websites) has the right to "share information" unless (1) they have , in writing, provided you w/specific verbiage that "We will never share nor sell your email or phone number" [yeah, good luck keeping track of all of it] or (2) you have (you must) called the toll free number the institution has provided on the inserts sent with your bank/credit card/other financial statements received w/snail mail accompanying monthly bills. This info is also included with Annual Privacy Statements (or semi-annual). On these inserts is a not-so-little-chart of information listing exactly that which the institution is legally permitted to share with whomever they chose to market your information but also information which you are legally permitted to restrict. HOWEVER, you must be proactive if you want to stop the info. sharing and *must* call (or write) the number provided in the inserts . I do it every time I get the chance. It's a true P.I.T.A. and I don't know how effective it is but at least it's better than doing nothing at all. Snailmail or paperless, institutions may share but they are also legally required to provide what they share and how you can restrict information to customers.

BTW, is it really a Telemarketer when it's a spoofed, illegal, off- shore scammer ? I'd call it a SCAM, but 800Notes has no line item for that type of call, so I list these as Prank calls, which seem more threatening than legal telemarketing calls. This is a frustrating problem i have with Notes - which I *love*, btw, it's by far the best site of it's kind.However, telemarketing is no longer a problem in the US, it's legal and traceable and stop-able. These calls are not.
