Just received his call. Caller knew my name so obviously my information was purchased. Caller had a pronounced NY or New England accent. Caller began to explain he as calling on behalf of some fire department organization. I was done listening at that point. Caller tried to explain he was not trying to sell me something. I cut him off and explained how I do not donate money over the telephone. I explained how I was sure if I did a Google search on the telephone number on the Caller ID, it would come back as a scam. As soon as I said I was a retired law enforcement officer, he hung up on me.
Got a call from this number... "Firefighters Association" is what he claims. Knew right away he was not local, as he asked if he had pulled me away from the pool (we have five inches of snow at the moment). When I asked if this was specifically for my local department, he hesitated. When I asked what my local department would say if I asked about his organizstion, he hung up. Scam artist.
