man calls everyday and just says hello and then hangs up. I'm paying every month for my unpublished number and I'm also on the do not call list; if he calls again I'm taking him to court.
That do not call registry and unpublished/private numbers are crap. I pay every month myself for our number to be private/unlisted and I still get soliciting calls. From what I hear, not everyone is immune from getting soliciting calls from state, government places. I think It's a bunch of bull crap. We signed up for the do not call registry because we do not want the phone calls but some are allowed to call anyway. I would love to put them on my call block list but my cable company only allows 12 blocked numbers and I have them all filled up already with other soliciting and debt collectors (that have the wrong number no matter how many times I tell them). I really wish there was a way to get them to finally stop calling. You can tell them to take you off their call list but don't be surprised if they start calling next year. I know exactly how you feel!!!!
Just because your number is unlisted doesn't mean you will not get illegal calls. The criminals use dialers and computers which do not recognize the fact your number is unlisted.
Charities, along with some survey's and Political calls, are exempt from the DNC, however, they can still get into trouble for not placing you on a internal DNC when asked, you can also check your states laws in regards. Some states do not allow the charities to call in their state, there may or may not be laws in your state regarding the others. State DNC laws can differ from the federal so its wise to check your state laws also for DNC.
