Sounded like it was from a phone bank.
There was no one the line at first. Then a lady picked up
the phone and said hello. I said may I ask who's calling.
She said who are you?
I said you called me.
She said well I thought I was calling a business, so that was not the proper way to answer the phone, etc.
and I hung up. I called back and got a recording for AmVets. It appears to be a marketing company who solicits for AmVets
It is AMVETs, but AMVETs is not a scam. They ask for donations of clothing, etc. They will even come and pick it up. If you're not ready yet, they will give you a number to call when you are. The lady I spoke to was very nice. I'm sure they won't turn down cash, and a lot of legitimate donations are taken by credit card over the phone. AMVETs has been around for years and has done great work in our communities.
Have you ever investigated who you donate to. To see if they do what they say they do with donations. Go to the site below. AMVETs is rated a big fat red "F". I have donated and bought a lot of stuff over the years from AMVETs. NO MORE AMVET's for me!
This phone number calls several times a day, every day. They do not leave a message. THis tells me they are not legitimate. If it was a legitimate phone call and they really wanted money, they would leave me a message. Not impressed by them.
