Break that order, the FTC declares, and ''the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000.'' They can also be spanked for excess call abandonment and calling outside default hours.
In comments from November 2012 and June 2013 linked below, I've discussed simple steps I took to rid myself of a major pain fundraising boiler room by politely rubbing its face in federal laws. You will note that I never rely on verbal cease-communication demands.
Caller ID showed the number had called and the caller was "unavailable". They left no message. Guess if it's the police, it won't help to call them. Used to be PAL and aggressive calls bordering on threats. PAL bumper sticker might be the deciding factor in a close call?
I am so annoyed with this caller. Stop dialing my number or leave a message. If it's a collector/soliciter, be considerate and leave a message for your call and you may get a return call back. You could be calling a tax payer/bill paying person and the real culprit gave a bogus number to get out of paying their debt... DAH!
