Caller ID showed unknown number - a male voice said he was from the State Police, asking donations for a fund raiser & the call was being recorded. I had previously showed the phone number to the local State Police & they told me do not solicit funds on the phone. Pretty sure it is a scammer.

Getting calls from these people, not leaving messages, at least 5 days a week. Sometimes 2-3 times a day. I do not answer numbers I don't know and you would think they get the hint that their call is not going to be answered. Think it's time to turn my fax machine on...maybe the screeching of the connecting of the machine will get them to stop. I did call one of their several numbers back and either the phone rings and rings, doesn't ring and you get dead silence or it tells you the number you called is not in service. Was hoping that I could get a recording or even a human and tell them to stop calling immediately, remove our number from their scam call list. I am so damn tired of them calling and not getting the hint that their call is not going to be answered.
To those who have posted here, 1) Jonie: the police to solicit funds through Fraternal Order of Police (who are relentless and, in some cases fraudulent), however your call sounds more like a scammer and 2) I, too, don't answer calls I don't recognize but I despair of that being the reason these thieves will stop calling. I have concluded, short of buying a moderately expensive call blocking device, there is nothing that can be done to stop this. Certainly, the government is useless. So, I just keep recording these calls, as a public service, on blogs such as these. My call was received on 6/13/14 at 8:34PM (pretty late) with a CID of Out of Area.
