Great news. Just in. The FCC has ruled that telephone companies can and should offer free tools for blocking of robocalls. The flash from Consumers Union is in the link below.
There is an effort being made by Consumers Union (they publish Consumer Reports). The effort is a petition to hold the phone companies responsible (at last!) for these phone calls since they do not screen scammers and are making money off their harassing telephone robo calls to consumers.
The petition is to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) to take action to get the phone companies to at least offer free number blockers through their phone system.
Signing the petition is sure to help. Consumers Union has clout because of the numbers.
Please go to www.EndRobocalls.org to end the madness, harassment and scams.
Also, contact your Congressman. Congress should address this issue since it is a federal problem.
Get calls all the time different numbers but all scummers! And do you really think congress is or your Rep is going to do anything about this think Twice!
Called 5/28/15 at 4:13 pm PDT. Caller ID showed V52819131400166 and this number. Suspect tis is the infamous LA Bldrs who like to use the "V" code. My phone answered by Sentry robo call blocker which tells calling party we do not accept calls from telemarketers, to remove our number from "their call list" (legal requirement to prosecute if ever caught), or press 0 to leave message. No message left. Have had an unlisted number for years and years, and on the Federal Do Not Call list
I received a call last night. Could tell it was an automated call. The name Lisa Kent was given. I hang up on all automated calls, I don't speak with machines.
Had a call from this #. Left a message that it is something to do with the IRS. We should contact asap. The message was broken up.
We owe back taxes. We have an excellent cpa so I blew it off.
