I have received TOO MANY of these calls over a period of YEARS. This is the old Payday Loan collection scam. Your information has been fraudulently obtained or bought. Chances are, at some point, you applied for some type of online loan. It may have been years ago, even so far back that you don't even remember. Eventually, even if you never actually took out a loan, you'll start getting these calls. It's a scam. You cannot be arrested, imprisoned or otherwise strung up by the ankles for a bad debt. A bad debt does not equal a bad check. Bad checks would be processed through your local court as a crime, and only if you actually WROTE a check that was insufficient. Even then, businesses are typically required to wait a period such as 10 days before they file charges against you. These folks prey on the unknowing individual, in the hopes of snagging someone that they can actually frighten into paying. Simply put, you are not in any legal trouble. Just don't answer the phone, or better yet, block their number. You can also report this type of fraud to your local police, your State Attorney General's Office, your State Financial Regulation Bureau, and to the Federal Consumer Protection Bureau.
I've been getting robocalls from this number for about two weeks, including on weekends. If I answer the call, the automated message is something like "your bank has returned an item to us" and goes on to say that if I don't take action, there will be some collections action against me. This is bogus so I know whoever is calling is running a scam. There is no voice mail if I don't take the call. I called the number back multiple times and always got a message saying that all reps are busy, leave name and phone number, and reference number. I can't quite understand the name of the company given at the beginning of the message, but it sounds like "Eyes Dot" or "I's Dot." The company name on reverse lookup is Teleport Communications Group, Inc. in Mechanicsville, MD.

When I was contacted by this company I was told by different representatives that there company name was Global Solutions, Global Solutions AIS and Asset Investigative Solution. 240-249-2444 was the originally number that contacted me first claiming to be a company by the name of I's Dot or something like that and contacted me again with 240-394-6117 . They also refused to provide their company address stating the reason they don't have is because they are an arbitrating company and not a collection company don't need to identify themselves or send something in writing and that the last time they gave out their address an employee was attacked. They threating to get a summons against you if you refuse to pay. They also gave what seems to be bogus fax number 954-449-6387 claiming to be with their headquarters in Miami, FL (which the refused to properly identify as well). DON'T BE FOOLED THEY ARE A SCAM COLLECTION COMPANY TRYING TO SCARE PEOPLE INTO PAYING THEM MONEY.
These people called the switchboard of my employer about two weeks ago and left a bogus call back number. Today, they called and SPOKE TO MY SUPERVISOR telling her that they would issue a subpoena against me. It is obvious that they no nothing about me because I work for a law firm that employs over 1,000 lawyers WORLDWIDE. I'm sure I can get someone here to represent me against this bogus company. I called the number back and told them to cease and desist from calling my employer with a debt that I do not owe. If they call again, I'm filing a complaint with the Attorney General of Maryland and any other appropriate regulatory agency.
