This phone number called me Friday asking me for my address about a claim to serve me some paper they called me from this number 2402844151 2403002044 do anybody know who's number is this? Is this a scam?
Undoubtedly a debt collector possibly fishing for information. If they were legitimate they would already have your address based on the information they obtained from our creditor. Also, process servers never call to warn you, they simply show up at your home or work.
It sounds like you're being "softened up" by a fraudulent or bogus debt collector. Process servers don't call ahead.
Be prepared to be called by some dirt-bag who will give you a line of BS about lawsuits or arrest. Simply demand proof of their claim, in writing, be mailed to you. NOT e-mail or fax. As per federal law. When they refuse, for whatever reason, they'll have revealed themselves to be frauds. Give them NO information! If they were legitimate, they'd already have it. If the collector speaks with an accent, it is virtually guaranteed to be a fraud attempt.
