This research conducting group called me again today. It is the same service, Westat, that called us last night at 240-453-2908 and according to other sites is contracted to do various studies for primarily University and government organizations. Regardless, I'm blocking both of them through my phone company because they are insistent and annoying.
I have been getting repeated calls from this number, even after I spoke with them once and explained that I was not interested in doing their survey and despite that fact that I am on the "do not call" list
How did they get an unlisted phone number- Westat never stops calling, daily, evening non stop including week-end. I am reporting them and blocking them. Sometimes caller id shows "Westat - when you do not pick-up the call showing "Westat", they will call again few minutes later and caller ID will show "Rockville, MD" Same pesky nuisance.
They called my cell phone even though I'm on the Do Not Call List. AND they called me at 8:30 PM which may not bother the average person but it certainly bothered me when I have to wake up at 4:00 AM. I didn't recognize the phone number so I let it go to my voicemail. The message reassured me that they were not calling to request money but only to ask a few questions for a survey related to the overall health of Californians. Next time they call me I'll be sure to make it VERY clear they are not to call me again.
I looked up this number myself tonight as I got a call and to find it is Westat! To let you all know this is not a fake email. The reason I was sos surprised i I work for Westat.I do know calls like this can be annoying, but we honestly are not telemarketers. The research we do does help. We have helped to change laws,improve your transportation systems, improve health care i some areas, Anyone ever heard of the program for children called FIRST FIVE? this is a result of Westats research efforts.
I too am on the DNC list and it seems I get more solicitations calls then I ever did before But Westat is not solicitation so is not bound by the DNC law. Most times we dot talk to people on cell phones we realize the cost involved. Just let us know.
Do any of your kids watch Nick tv shows? If so, they have seen commercials for exercising, thats a research effort of Westat.Smoking is a big topic with people..do you want smoking on beaches, golf courses, zoo, childrens play grounds? Westat has doine surveys on smoking, some states now do not allow smoking in these places. If youre a smoker and think your rights are being violated, you should have answered the survey. The non smokers spoke and the laws were passed.
The speed of traffic of highways? Breast Cancer research, Westat. The list goes on. Westat has been in business since the early 1960's. It really is a reputable company. And most of us are very nice people just like you. We believe in what we do, we believe it gives the people the chance to speak. I wouldnt do this workif I didnt believe in it.
So the next time you complain that your sidewalks are cracked or missing, that you cant smoke on a beach or you can smoke in certain places, when you complain about the was in Iraq, all you had to do was speak up, Not that we asked question about the war, but about re-instating the draft..Do any of you have 18 year old sons? When we did that survey if you didnt participate you missed you opportunity to tell our legislators and policy makers what you felt.
