When you are pretty sure it a robo scammer,
1) either do not answer or
2) SCREAM int the phone "the job is done and there is BLOOD EVERYWHERE, the police are one their way." then hang up. Keep records to see if they ever call back.....or
3) "Stop calling sweet heart, I will Be there soon, I'll can't leave until my husband (or wife) goes to sleep," and hang up.. or
4) "your stupid wife (or husband) is at my door and I'm going to shoot her?
but it is best ot just do not pick it up, because that tells them it is a good number so they can sell it to another robo
A new number for these criminals - I didn't answer - no VM left.
They also called yesterday from the 202 area code - both area codes are in Washington DC.
Have now blocked the 240 area code and have had the 202 area code blocked for several months.
We have the DIGITONE CALL BLOCKER on our office lines for about 6 months. The Digitone call blocker is wonderful in that it can block entire area codes...as well as individual numbers. We have 45 area codes blocked - these a_holes are now blocked forever
They just called again and I don't know who this is but will assume it's Google since others have mentioned them. I answered a call a few days ago that was probably from this number and got a threatening message from Google warning me that I have not updated my company profile with them and that they are going to suspend my account. I never set up a business listing or account with Google and so, I don't care if they ' suspend ' my account. Go fer it ! Why is Google being so aggressive with their calls? Are they keeping a database for anyone imparticular???? for any particular reason? My business is my business, if I don't want to market my business and I fail, so be it. Who do these corporate fascists think they are?
Has it occured to any of you guys that these people are simply "mining" for live phone numbers to sell ?? Call the number and if someone answers the phone add that number to the list they sell to marketers .....
Call your congressman and senator and let's push for legislation that makes it a felony to harass by telephone.....and then let's ship these turds to a country that likes criminals ............
This will only stop when enough of us raise cain with legislators and remove their right to take our right to peace and quiet...
CapnBill, I did contact my senators. I work from home and just got a call on my business line. I didn't answer; they hung up without leaving a message on my answering machine. I've gotten to where I don't even answer calls when they're not calling from my home state. The sad fact is that business customers with phone companies cannot opt out from receiving telemarketing calls. Why exactly is that? Well, a couple of years ago I called my sorry senators in Georgia, Saxey Chambliss and Johnny Isaakson's office, and they told me that the reason business lines were exempt from being on the Do Not Call List was because the telemarketers might be calling to offer a service or product I might be interested in. Oh, really? I guess I know who's donating tons of money to their campaigns -- businesses and telemarketers. If I don't want the dang calls, I don't want them, plain and simple. Also, I am more than capable of searching and buying products and services without telemarketers pushing their crap. Honestly, who in their right mind would actually agree to buy a product or service from a telemarketer? I don't know of anyone who has, ever. Most people buy in stores or from reputable businesses online. As we've seen lately, Congress is totally dysfunctional and we need to vote these idiot senators out of office. Oh, and reporting abusers to the FCC is a joke! These senators are NOT looking out for us -- just their own personal agenda and interests. If only folks would remember that at election time and get their sorry butts elected OUT of office!
