This strange number called me and because I did not recognise the number I left it to voicemail. But then the same number called me 2 more times within a 5 minute time span. Assuming is was important, I finally answered. When I said "hello" the caller immediately hung up on me. So weird!
If you answer the phone, your number is then considered a live number and can be sold to other scammers who will then start to call you. Reporting them to the Feds will not help. At one point I did what you said to do in your post. I got the name and address of a scammer trying to sell me some kind of medical care for diabetes. I reported them to the feds and nothing came of it. The fact that I don't have or never have had diabetes didn't matter to them. But what about people they called who had diabetes and gave them their personal information? They really seemed to be after people who were on Medicare. So if they could scam these people the Feds would be paying tax dollars tp these scammers. I have even called and written to my Senators and Representatives about the Do Not Call List and the fact they do nothing to stop scammers from calling. They don't care and all I received in return was some form letters.
