We got an unexpected call from CID 240-385-9916 with CNAM set to "12403859916" which rang until our answering machine picked up (thus, getting past our third-party robocall blocking service that intercepts calls after one ring from numbers known or suspected to be sources of nuisance calls.) The caller left a message of only a few, faint seconds of what sounded like people talking in the background. It wasn't clear enough to say for sure if it was call center background chatter/noise.
Reverse lookup told me it's a non-fixed VoIP number, and I didn't find any other reports of nuisance calls from this number before posting here.
At best, someone dialed our number by accident and didn't get their phone hung up in time. Somehow I doubt it.
