THE CALL FROM THIS NO. WAS RECEIVED BY MY MOTHER AND THE PERSON ON THE LINE SAID HE WAS WITH THE D.E.A. & HE WAS IN POSSESSION OF A PACKAGE ADDRESSED TO HER, SHE'S 86 & HANDED ME THE PHONE, THE IMPLICATION BEING THAT THE PACKAGE CONTAINED DRUGS & I TOLD HIM TO TALK TO OUR LAWYER & HUNG UP. NO FURTHER CONTACT FROM HIM & I DON'T BELIEVE THE D.E.A. WOULD CALL ABOUT A POSSIBLE FELONS PACKAGE HE'D INTERCEPTED, THIS AREA CODE IS IN WASH. MD. & MY MOM LIVES IN ARIZONA, I CALLED THE NO. BACK & IT WAS ANSWERED BY AN EXCHANGE, OF WHICH I HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF THEIR PURPOSE. THIS CALL UPSET MY MOTHER GREATLY SHE IS THE MOST MORAL  PERSON AS EVER WAS BORN. CAN THERE BE ANY ACTION(S) VICTIMS OF THESE MIND CRIMES CAN TAKE?

Came home last night to find a voice mail received at 2:52 p.m. EDT from a "Steve Jamail" claiming to be with the Drug Enforcement Agency who ordered me to call him immediately at 240-482-8368 because of an "investigation."

Bull.

What a scamming liar that pervert is. People who have answered these kinds of phone calls have been told to wire money (anywhere from $800 to more than $4,000) to pay a "fine." The DEA doesn't do this and it's a federal offense to impersonate a federal officer.

The DEA doesn't call people on the phone; they show up at your door. Anyone getting calls like this should report them to the DEA via the toll-free DEA Hotline, which is 1-877-792-2873. You can also go to the DEA Web site at www.dea.gov to make a report and also learn more about these scammers.

These scamming perverts aren't just targeting people who purchased drugs over the Internet or via the telephone; I've had this phone number for years and I've lost count of the number of calls I've gotten from these fake pharmacies calling for someone who doesn't live here. I used to ask them to stop calling but they ignored me so now I block their calls. But then they call from other spoofed numbers, so now when I see a number I don't recognize or "out of area" on the caller ID, I do one of two things:

1) connect the call, then immediately disconnect

2) connect the call and just leave the line open. Pretty soon their automatic dialer will recognize that the call has been answered and I'll hear someone (usually with a foreign accent) start their spiel. Sometimes they'll talk for a minute or two before realizing that they're talking to dead air. If nothing else, I've slowed them down by wasting their time!

Apparently this is just the latest fake telephone number used by these perverts. If anyone receives this kind of call, you should contact the DEA and report the telephone number. You won't get in trouble and maybe by working together, we can eliminate this scam and keep others from being terrorized.
