I received several calls from 240-399-8965, Buckeystown, MD. Didn't answer b/c I didn't recognize the number. Decided to call back and see what it was. After the recording a woman answered slurring the company name badly. I asked her what the name of the company was again and she hung up. I called back and reached someone who said their name was Ms. Williams. She gave me a name of someone they were looking for. I told her they had the wrong number, she said she'd remove my number from their list. Then I received 9 more calls back to back of the intial woman (slurring woman) bein profane, pressing buttons on the phone and just being immature and ignorant. I'd like to know what we can all do about this. There has to be something that can be done to stop these insane practices.
they call my cellphone 2 to 4 times a day....never leave me voice mail....when i called their number back to see what the company name is, they just answer"how can i help you"...getting very annoying...i have quit answering the phone when they call and i see their number on my display
This is a collection agency, on calling them back they are looking for someone with a different name, presumably who had my phone number previously. They said I had to mail them a letter to get them to stop calling, which I refused to do, since it is their responsibility to confirm that I am in fact the person they want, not mine to waste my time proving otherwise. I don't know if this falls under the Fair Debt Collection Act which requires them to stop calling if they receive a letter from the debtor, since I am not he. My next step, if they persist in calling, is to contact my state attorney general and the federal trade commission.
