called threatening legal action. just another illegal debt collection scam.

They called and it was a recorded message saying pay or we will serve you paper if they don't hear from me today

I got the same call from that number today and yesturday. Today was a recorded message. What should I do?

They call themselves National Attorneys Network.  It looks to me like just another debt scamming operation.  Don't answer their calls.  Do not talk to them.  DO NOT SEND THEM ANY MONEY OR AGREE TO!

If you do talk  to them, ask them for a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.  Most likely they won't send you anything but give you a lot of legal double talk.     This is basically a shake-down scheme.   Don't let them threaten you.  They are trying to make you think they are a law firm.  But they are not, so far as I can see and they will not give you their address.


Fraudulent or Zombie Debt Collectors—Things to Know

If you have received a call stating:

1. You have defrauded a financial institution
2. You owe an unpaid payday loan
3. You have a warrant due to an unpaid loan
5. You will receive a court summons
6.  Authorities are coming to arrest you
7.  Anything similar to above,
a.   Do not give them any information or verify any information for them
b.   Tell them you know they are a scam operating illegally and that you are   filing a complaint with the  appropriate authorities
* File a complaint with the FBI on their Internet Crime webpage     http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
* File a complaint with the Attorney General for the state you live in

They continue to bother  you, tell them you are going to the police to make a complaint of extortion.

I got a phone call from this number. They left a voicemail saying they needed to verify a current home and work address to serve papers. An that is was the 3rd and final notice. They said they was from processing summons division. Has anyone else had a problem with them???
