The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

Get a phone from this number, 252-200-3706. Person's name is Autumn Price. Says her company has been retained by Advance America, and there is a pending charge against me for failure to pay off a payday loan to Advance America. I told her when pigs fly she'll get her money and hung up. Called Advance America and their parent company, Cashnetusa, and neither company had ever heard of me, and I didn't have an outstanding loan. Autumn called back to threaten a garnishment if I didn't call back. Always call the company the "collectors" say has hired them, and verify the transfer of the loan.

Legal Mediations called me again today from this new number.
"Yesterday I received a call from an Aurora Colorado number (720) 262-3104. It was an automated message from a courier service stating that I had missed a delivery. I stayed on the line and it transferred me Kate Logan with Legal Mediations. She told me I was being sued for an online Payday Loan made between 2011-2012 that was deposited to an old bank account that had been closed for several years. She said she represented Business Marketing Group. She wanted to get current address. I did not give it to her but started asking for more information on the "alleged defaulted loan". She couldn't give me specifics other than the amount owed $1125.50. She gave me her call back number (252) 216-2741 I asked for a company address and she gave me a PO Box number! PO Box 11092 Rocky Mount North Carolina 27802. To prove the "validity of the debt" she gave me the IP address the loan was made from (which turned out to be somewhere in San Jose). After talking to her "supervisor", who again tried to get my current address, I was told they were going to forward the case to their FOG department and call me back. It all sounded very fishy to me."
