Got called twice today and three times yesterday from this number. Usually my second "hello" is answered by some non-english-speaking person who makes an utter mess of my name. First couple of times I told the unfortunate individual that there was no one by that name (taken literally from the pronunciation, there wasn't) and they rudely hung up.
Today, however, I am in a playful mood and agreed I was the person they wanted. The unfortunate person today went into some spiel about how I was lucky enough to be chosen to participate in some grant program sponsored by the U.S. government. I told this person that if they were truly from the U.S. government, they could have a native English speaker call me back. Asked to speak to a supervisor and was rudely hung up on.
This company is calling saying that you have been approved for a government grant and all you need to do is answer 3 questions. I advised them, I know all about government grants. NEWSFLASH: THE U.S. GOVT DOES NOT MAKE OUTBOUND CALLS TO OFFER PEOPLE GRANTS! Period! I told him that and he hung up. Tried to call back and only get a busy tone.
I just received a call from a "middle eastern sounding man" (i dont mean to sound racist it's just the way i can describe him) who told me i was selected to receive a free loan that i never have to pay back. hm...not fishy at all. When i initially answered the phone he was speaking in his native tongue i guess because i could not understand him. I asked him is he spoke english and he said yes i can. When i finally got angry i said "i'm not interested" and "where are you calling me from?" and he hung up. when i tried to call back i got a busy dial tone. What can i do? Do i look up the police in that local area code? Any suggestions? this is my first call.
