Same story as everyone else. We got a new phone number two days ago and this was the first call to it. No message. Very irritating. To one person who wondered what's the point of all of us posting here, I can cite one advantage. I feel better knowing that it's nothing personal. Not a collection agency, not an ex boyfriend, not anything sinister. Probably. At least it's not personally sinister. So thanks to all who have posted because you saved my nerves today and made me feel less alone. Small victories.
These calls are coming from criminals -- NOT telemarketers and NOT from any reputable company.
Criminals purchase Tracfones with prepaid minutes. They are untraceable and this is how they “hide.”
They are trying to get YOUR personal information and/or credit card information to steal your identity or money.
THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW and DO:
If you search the number and find the carrier, call and complain to the carrier. They can contact the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY at a higher tier and get a quicker response.
The DO NOT CALL REGISTRY can block the number so the scammers will lose their pre-paid minutes. These are NOT legitimate companies.
NEVER answer calls from a phone number that you do not recognize, especially if it is out-of-state.
NEVER call the number back - they will log your number as one to keep calling.
If you do, accidentally, answer such a call, NEVER, NEVER give out any personal information, including your account numbers. If it is a live person, say "I will report you." and hang up.
File complaints with the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY here:
https://www.donotcall.gov/
File complaints with the FEDERAL Communications Commission here:

Help these agencies block their telephones (so they lose their prepaid minutes), and let everyone know. Save this email and keep telling everyone.
Been receiving calls from "New A Co" everday for at least a month. I have been ignoring but I picked up today. A man identified himself as James from Family Protection Services. Asked if I would be willing to have a GE wireless home security system installed for free, for placing a sign in my yard. I said "NO, I already have a security system". He asked if I was under contract, blah blah blah blah and wanted to have someone contact me to discuss. Though they want you to think it is a real person, I believe it is a robo-call with a real persons voice. I had to hang up because Mr. Moron kept talking.
