Be smart. Don't agree to anything. Ask questions. That kinda stuff seems to cause these CTEL folks to hang up. Mr. "slammed" did you get slammed or not?
Called today at my workplace, asking to speak to "the person who handles the AT&T account." When I asked if she was calling from AT&T, she became extremely rude and avoided answering.
After I made the mistake of answering the call (BS about correcting errors on my AT&T long dsitance bill), I called AT&T. They said it was bogus and I was probably "slammed" to another phone service provider. I agreed to nothing with the first caller but I was afraid that I was being slammed. AT&T said that there was nothing that they could do about it - thanks for calling. At least they didn't make me wait along time for the brush-off from someone who doesn't speak english.
