Twice I received a call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, "Internal Revenue Service." It was a robo-call, but the item that got me is the wording of the call. "The IRS is filing lawsuit against you." Don't these people realize that that statement is not proper English? That was a "red flag," for me, as well as the fact that the IRS doesn't file lawsuits and their first action is always to send the taxpayer a letter. Them calling you, out of the blue, is like the police calling to ask if you are selling drugs. "Call us back if you are selling drugs, so we can arrest you." The thing all these scammers do-and it also shows a fraudulent website-is they either speak or write something that doesn't sound like it is proper English, with some part of English missing. This time, it was the letter "a." It's like their first language isn't English.
Rec'd a vmx advising they have been trying to reach me. Message serves as final notice that the IRS will be filing charges. Called from 607-594-4641 but told to call back: 253 655 4857. We have received refunds every year and never owed the federal government. Appears to be a scam.
Received a call/message from them today (number was showing up as 'unknown'), too, saying that the IRS will be filing charges. I was given the same call-back number. According to other online posts it's a scam. I emailed the info to the fraud department at the IRS.
phone message stating the IRS has filed "A SUIT" against me..to please call this number to discuss..First reaction is
to call that number, then after a few seconds, I thought why? I am in good standing...then it dawned on me to to google the number and there you go..not the IRS....
