Solicitors use autodialers. Then they program their machines to dial numerically down the line until they get an answer. For example they dial 932-1111, then 1112, 1113, 1114, & so on. Theres no way to prevent them from doing that. I vote for transferring them to a dial a prayer #.
I have been getting numerous calls from this number and other unknown numbers lately. Sometimes there is a number on my caller ID, but usually it only reads "Ringing" "Unknown" or just has a bunch of "zeros." I am getting tired of these calls and don't know what to do. They call early in the morning (and wake me up) and also mid-morning. (I do not answer and have turned my automatic answering off.) I called my phone company (comcast) and they said they can't trace them. That's pretty odd since they know about all other incoming and outgoing numbers which always show on my bill. (These obnoxious calls never show up.) Obviously phone companies are selling our numbers to others and I'm fed up. Comcast told me I could change my number (for a fee) or add my number to a no call list. (I've been on a no call list for years and update it often.) It appears that phone companies don't give a darn about old customers, so maybe I should just get rid of my land line.
