It wasn't, and this is a scam!
The only persons who should be touching your computer is you, your manufacturer, Real Windows support that you have called and/or maybe a real live tech you see face to face!
Same thing; the person who called me said he was from Microsoft and that my computer was infected with hacking software. He wanted me to turn on the computer so they could 'fix it'.

Got a call from "Daniel" today. When I called back the guy who answered didn't seem to know Daniel. I asked him if he works for Microsoft, and he said, "no vindows operating system." I continued to ask who he works for and couldn't get a straight answer. This is the second call we have gotten over a several month period from these "vindows operating system" guys.
