Finally, the "FBI" calls today. The caller ID says it came from 1-253-820-3039. The man is extremely angry, and starts by saying he is from the FBI and they are investigating all the people who have been scammed by the "windows tech" scams. It must be he is so mad because the real FBI just shut down their servers. They piggy back on your server to perpetrate their crimes.
He ranted on saying there have been many people who been scammed by these so called scheisters, and was my email address
[email protected]?
I said no, Adrian Smith was the guy who called us last year and perpetrated a scam against us, which we have sorted out somewhat since then (in that I have received a refund from my cr card company).
Since these scheisters insist on calling, I will insist on giving them the royal runaround, and try to get as much information from them as possible without doing anything.
They also mention to visit a website windows refund dot web dot com.
They say "we have tried to talk to you 2 times last week, but you are just laughing at us, thinking it is a big joke".
I say: well yes, you should know - after all you are the FBI - who calls me in the middle of the day, with a thick Indian accent, and speaks to the public this way? I wouldn't even believe it now if the FBI did call - it would be tough luck for the person because I will NEVER believe it again.
So I tell the "FBI" that it was Cyber Media Solutions (out of Bangkok or some place) and a bogus "Adrian Smith" who was perpetrating all these crimes against the public.
And Guess what - he hung up. I guess the truth hurts.
I hope the real FBI finds them someday - they are stealing money from unsuspecting people.
Their scam is to get you to sign into to your computer and have them remotely access your computer to "fix it". Then they want to be paid for the hacked avg or mcafee codes they "sell" you. They say the codes are good for 7 years - who wouldn't want that? AVG does not sell 7 year codes, so people are sucked in. Then they try to piggy back on your server and carry out even more transactions with unsuspecting customers. I watched "adrian" back in August 2011 as he asked me if he could use my server as they had a "fire in their other server" ha hahahahah. I let him go for about 5 minutes, then I shut my computer down just as he was doing a transaction (with someone's credit card!). I got a call a few minutes later - boy was he mad. I said I had other things to do and had to turn off my computer.
Do not give your computer controls over through any remote service program such as Team Viewer or Remote Anything unless you know the people you are dealing with (ie they are in your company or well known to you face to face).
The next time the guy calls, I'm going say, "I don't have a computer."
