Got a call on a school district cell phone, which few people know of, from 254-477-6501. So I picked it up but didn't say anything. There was nobody on the line and, after a few seconds, the line went dead.

There was nobody on the line and, after a few seconds, the line went dead. On another forum a poster said it was from a security company selling home security systems. Oughta be against the law!
Tell them you are going to call the FCC to report their autodialer. Ask the person that you talk to for their last name for FCC report. You won't get their last name. Then say next click of mouse will be your states IG (Inspector General). And if you have the time do report them to the above. Its the only way to slow them down.
I tried calling them back but there is recording that states " the number you have dialed is out of service. please check your number & try again".....
