Son accepted a job through what the thought was a legitimate recruiter. The company was represented as Well Care which is a legitimate employer who has had other people who thought they were employed but fell for a scam. Well Care is not responsible for the scam. People are using their name to perpetuate a scam. This being a work at home position in medical care it seemed legal and legitimate on correspondence. The "company" sent checks to the son to use to purchase office furniture, other equipment and supposedly in home set up services. The checks were deposited into an account at a local bank and were not frozen until cleared. The son thought that the funds were good when the bank allowed him to take money to wire to the service/equipment company. He is now being held responsible to the bank for the money. The scammer's rushed him to make the deposits and then rushed him to act. He still know or even suspect the scam until the bank notified him that the checks were bogus and did not clear. Has anyone else run into a situation similar to this? Does anyone know if there is a legitimate way to get out of this? Does anyone know of any associations whether Government, State, or private that might take an interest in helping this son? Any thoughts, stories, comments or help would be appreciated.
