Firefighter from organization asking for donations for burn victims at a banquet hosted by some soul group. Offered to sing one of the songs. Charismatic gentleman, that I eventually just hung up on. Do not know if credible story was told.
Folks, be careful with these calls. Esp calls from strangers saying they represent local groups. If you want to listen to the pitch, that is your choice. If you like what you hear, thank the caller and then go on line and check out the Organization and/or the Fund Raiser. It that checks out, there are usually ways you can do donations directly to the charity or organization.
If you ask a caller for info about a fund raising organization that claims to be collecting funds for your local Fire/Police/State Police etc, you often find the caller hangs up or tells you some story. Not a good sign. I would rather make sure my contribution goes to the right people.
