Mr. Marine engineer David or Joe..... I didn't feel right about his text. I googled the phone number and got to read all these post. My experience is the same as previous post. Thank you all for posting so I don't get scammed.
Received text from this person, wanted to purchase my entertainment center which I listed on craigslist for $500. Sends a fake cashier's check for $2,470.00 and wants me to send the rest of the money "Western Union" to a Jeffrey Griffin, Indianapolis, IN. 46256 ASAP. This was to pay for "movers" Mega Lift. Searched internet, no such moving company in US. When I received checked, called IBC Bank in TX., no money in that account! Beware, although I lost nothing (shouldn't say that; my time and energy is priceless!!) I just don't want anyone else getting hurt from this scam.
Received texts from this number trying to do the same thing. Also received texts from 302.417.1377...same person...just said his other phone was broke.
Forgot to mention, according to the postal service, the express mail was sent from Greenwood Indiana, 46142, the money was to be sent to Indiana as mentioned earlier, the phone number originates from Indiana but when I called the Attorney General's Office in Indiana the woman said that this is not from the state of Indiana. Confused but scamming is not my business. Have filed a fraud complaint with USPS and Hawaii's Attorney General's Office and posted this warning with 800 notes.
Aloha and have a great day!!!
I recently have been texting only a "David" the oceanographer for a purchase on craigslist via cashiers check and to deal with movers also! Red flag went up in my mind, expecially when the text would not answer any just chatting conversation questions regarding his interesting job...location...time zone...! Going to warn others also. Glad I saw this when my husband entered their number to search it out.
