Got this call again early this morning. They hung up again before the answering machine can pick up. Caller ID says FAV. I never answer if I don't recognize the number. I thought I had blocked this number last summer. Oh well, have to do it again.
Fake charity, gives name as "Foundation for American Veterans." This is a sophisticated kind of robo-call that pretends to be a real person, and can adapt the recording playback according to what the call recipient says, within a narrow range of responses. If you get this call, try answering in a manner that a human being would understand, but a simple robot cannot, and you'll see what I mean. Example: http://doorbell.net/junk/104310fav.mp3 .
Also uses 262 200-0379 and other numbers. They are looking for low-hanging fruit, so won't leave a message if it thinks it got voicemail, but calls back repeatedly, and ignores the DNC list.
Got this scammer call later last evening and again at 8:00 a.m. this morning. They hang up before the answering machine can pick up. Caller ID says FAV. I never answer if I don't recognize the number. I have a spam blocker on my phone, so it should catch it.
These people are incredibly persistent. Two days ago, I got three calls from this number within a 20 second span. I have a call blocker that intercepts the call and disconnects it on the first ring. Immediately they rank back. After the third time, they gave up for the day. I get frequent calls from this number which comes across the caller ID as "Frank Boucher VW."
