So many calls coming in for an extended warranty scam in the last two weeks, and this was one of them. I suggested that he call people that actually own cars, because trying their scam on people that don't won't work. The robocall message in the beginning said "thank you for calling us" -- as though I called them. Telemarketing scum.
Call was a robocall regarding vehicle warranty has expired and "would you like to speak with a rep regarding extending" or something. To sum it up, they were trying to get you to say yes to scam for BS services. Do not say anything like yes or sure.
I keep waiting for the documented case which proves that an alleged "say yes" campaign is both the current rage and also leads to swift loss of funds. The early stage is lead generation, typically a "qualifier" to pass on the mark to a live agent. It's been my experience that you can't get any useful intel for law enforcement without at least feigning compliance long enough to extract answers from a human.
Please keep up with the news, rather than make specious statements.
The FTC and top communications companies met, to determine what they can do to stop robocalls and other illegal calls. Here is a link to a frequently updated page, showing the history and progress of their initiatives, as well as recent Congressional bills and Industry implementations.

(I strongly suggest you read the history and progress of
H.R.2669 - Anti-Spoofing Act of 2015
and
S.2558 - Spoofing Prevention Act of 2016
to learn how [slowly] bills progress through our Congressional system, even when there is bilateral agreement that something should be done.)

Tiresome canned female hawking a vehicle service contract wants a keypress response. Doesn't work too well through voice mail. Dialer used this Pennsylvania number on me last week, same recording heard today via a New Mexico number. See my notes in the other thread.
