They called on my cell phone and hung up. I called them back and inquired as to the purpose of the call and a woman of oriental voicing stated that I had won a $100.00 gift card. I asked them from whom did the call come from and she said one of their online marketing companies and I told her that I would pass on the offer 3 or 4 times and each time she told me I had nothing to be concerned about because this call is being monitored by the FCC. When I asked her where was she calling from (due to the heavy foreign accent), she said, Sacramento, CA. However, my caller ID said Michigan. which to me is a lie.
They called on my cell phone this afternoon but I missed the call. We live in Oregon. First time I've gotten a call from this number. However earlier this afternoon my wife's cell phone rang twice and immediately my cell phone rang twice---my cell phone number is the same as my wife's except it is one higher. Her's ends in 2, mine ends in 3. Caller I.D.'s said "Jamaica." Maybe the same scammers using different number. We NEVER answer if we don't recognize the number and we never call back if they don't leave a message or a legitimate message.
21 minutes after this call I got one from 201-535-3873 (New Jersey). The various telephone network providers must know what these shysters are up to. These companies provide access to these scammers by selling or renting phone numbers for very short time periods, and make money doing so. These American providers are aiding and abetting and should be held liable.
