Mine rang once also - however, I read about a scam where people hit call back and it goes to an offshore account that then bills you hundreds of dollars for "services". Basic rule, if was important, the would leave a message.
if your number is listed on the do not call registry and you give it out that is you telling that person that they have permission to call you. that includes writing your number on a form(online or physically), giving it our on a business card or saying it verbally.As soon as you give out your number the do not call registry no longer restricts that person from calling you.

A very good rule to follow! If I don't know who it is, I don't answer the call, especially if they're hiding their name. If the call was important, they would leave a message. If no message, then it was a bogus call as far as I'm concerned. Of course I usually check here to confirm that it was a telemarketer or scammer -- it's getting to the point that both seem to be the same anymore.
